Softball: Freshman Jordan hits game-winner for Fremd

Freshman Ava Jordan's smash down the left field line with runners on second and third served as the walk-off single that gave host Fremd a come-from-behind 7-6 win over Elk Grove in the Mid-Suburban League softball crossover on Tuesday.

Jordan's classmate Elaina Kraus crossed the plate with the run that capped a 4-run rally for coach Josh Teschner's club, which raised its record to 14-6 and 10-3 in the MSL West.

Senior Hailey Hazlett (2 strikeouts) threw the final 2⅓ innings to earn the win in relief of freshman Gina Dudley (3 strikeouts).

Cali DiVito (2-for-3, 3 RBI, HR) and Jordan (2-for-4, 2B) were the multiple hitters for Fremd.

Leading the offense for Elk Grove (19-6, 6-5) were Katia Pendowski (2-for-4, 2B), Jaimie Klicka (2-for-4, HR) and AJ Trausch (HR).

Rolling Meadows 10, Hoffman Estates 2: Sara Benner (2-for-3, 2B) belted her school-record 34th career homer and ninth of the season for visiting Rolling Meadows (14-9, 6-6) in the MSL crossover.

Other multiple hitters for Meadows were Sam Allen (2-for-3, 3B), and Emily Schmidt (3-for-3, 2B).

Elise Kowalski (8-7) earned the win over the Hawks (1-21, 1-11).

Prospect 6, Conant 5: Senior Emalee Depa earned the win for Prospect (6-13, 3-8) with 6 strikeouts. Leading the Knights' offense were Cassie Cunniff (2-for-4, HR, 2B), Madeline Borkowski (2-for-3) and Adeline Wantuch (2-for-3).

Multiple hitters for visiting Conant (3-16, 3-10) were Katie Maize (3-for-5, 2B) and Morgan Long (2-for-5).

Buffalo Grove 17, Wheeling 7: Buffalo Grove (8-10, 5-7) won its second straight MSL East game as pitchers Megan Fontanetta (5 innings) and Kylie Mainville (2 innings) teamed up for the visiting Bison, who scored 6 runs in the top of the seventh.

Fontanetta (3-for-6, 4 runs, 2B), Hannah Young (2-for-4, 2B, 3 runs), and Kimberly Stuerke (3-for-3, 3 RBI, 2 runs) led the offense for BG, which also received doubles from Bailey Williams and Elie Christou and a triple for Angelina Craig.

Wheeling (3-15, 1-12) was led by Emmie LaCaeyse (2-for-3, 2B), Peyton LaCaeyse (2-for-3, 2B) and Danni Moser (2B).
