Court fight continues over logging along Lake Monroe
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - Some property owners along southern Indiana's Lake Monroe are making a new attempt to stop a neighbor from logging his land.
The lawsuit claims vehicles and logging equipment are trespassing on shared private access roads to reach Joe Huff's property on a peninsula along the northern side of the lake's midsection.
The (Bloomington) Herald-Times reports logging began on the land after a state appeals court ruling in March overturned a previous Monroe County court order blocking the work.
Huff's attorney, Tom Malapit, says crews have cleared about four acres of the 250-acre property. Malapit says Huff is following all state and federal regulations so the work doesn't pollute the reservoir that's Bloomington's water supply.
Malapit says the neighbors are wrongly trying to restrict Huff's use of his land.
