HandsOn Suburban Chicago celebrates 50th anniversary
On Wednesday April 24, HandsOn Suburban Chicago held its 50th Anniversary Fundraiser at Arlington Ale House.
One hundred people attended this successful event, sponsored by the First Bank of Highland Park, that raised over $11,000.
Guests enjoyed a fun-filled evening that included bingo, trivia questions, a raffle and silent auction. Music for the evening was provided by the talented Kevin O'Connell Jazz Trio.
Some featured guests included; Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes, Trustee Robin LaBedz and Wheeling Community Consolidated School District 21 board member Arlen Gould.
HandsOn Suburban Chicago has been a vital part of the community since 1969. Its mission is to positively impact communities by connecting people to enriching volunteer experiences. By harnessing the power of volunteers, HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC) strengthens 44 communities and builds capacity for close to 150 nonprofits in Northern Cook and Northern DuPage counties.
In addition to helping nonprofits, HandsOn Suburban Chicago volunteers also help support a large underserved population of seniors with a wide array of services that helps them age in place, promote socialization and reduce isolation. HandsOn Suburban Chicago mobilizes volunteers to deliver academic and social support to under resourced and at-risk youth. Additionally HandsOn Suburban Chicago educates nonprofits about volunteerism and best practices in the field through yearly trainings and classes to its communities.
