Baseball: West Aurora, Bartlett, Streamwood win

West Aurora 6, Glenbard East 3: Anthony Malczyk, Eddie Wilson and Reid Medlin contributed 2 hits apiece to a 12-hit attack as the Blackhawks took the Upstate Eight series rubber game. Winning pitcher Justin Zimmerman (4-1) held the Rams to 2 earned runs in 4 innings and Kyler Scroggins struck out 3 in a 2-inning save for West Aurora (18-7, 4-5).

Bartlett 3, South Elgin 0: Sophomore starting pitcher Nick Kantzavelos and senior Michael Vaca combined to shut out the Upstate Eight leaders. Kantzavelos struck out 3 and danced around 5 hits and 5 walks over 5⅓ innings. Vaca struck out 4 in 1⅔ innings for the save. Vaca and Sam Mallinas drove in runs for Bartlett (9-9-1). Grant Baker took the loss for South Elgin (17-4) after holding the Hawks to an earned run on 7 hits and a walk in 6 innings.

Streamwood 4, Elgin 1: Colin Bielinski allowed 1 hit, struck out 5 and walked none in 6 shutout innings to lift Streamwood (13-9).

Hampshire 2, Cary-Grove 1: Reliever Thomas Ugalde induced a flyout and groundout with runners on first and second to close a Fox Valley Conference win for Hampshire (14-9). Losing pitcher Ryan Weaver struck out 10 walked 6 and allowed 2 earned runs in 4⅔ innings. Matt Jachec drove in the game-winning run with a fifth-inning double.

Crystal Lake South 9, Crystal Lake Central 5: Will Frisch earned the win in relief of Nathan Schlaiss after the Gators rallied for 4 runs in the sixth to overcome a 5-2 deficit. Henry Tipton went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for CL South (14-9, 7-9).

Prairie Ridge 1, Huntley 0: Prairie Ridge starter Braeden Harrell allowed only 2 hits in 6 innings of a Fox Valley Conference win. Losing pitcher Hunter Rumachik held the Wolves to an earned run on 5 hits in 5 innings, struck out 5 and walked a pair. Kyle Maurer doubled for Huntley (21-6, 14-5).

Marmion 2, St. Laurence 0: Nick Talarico pitched 6 innings of 1-hit ball, struck out 9 and walked 3 in 6 innings, and Tony Mele pitched a scoreless seventh in a Chicago Catholic League Blue win. Jake Carlson and Jack Zebig drove in runs for Marmion (6-11, 2-7). Cole Anderson took the loss for St. Laurence (24-3, 7-2).

Burlington Central 8, Johnsburg 4: Kyle Fischer homered and drove in 3 runs and Jake Jarvis, Braden Seyller and Colton Wallace doubled in a Kishwaukee River Conference win. Zak Zuiker allowed 4 runs (none earned) on 3 hits and struck out 7 in 6 innings for Burlington Central (15-8).
