Pilot seriously injured when small plane crash in Indiana
ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - Police say the pilot of a small plane has been seriously injured in a crash at a central Indiana airport.
Anderson Police Department Maj. Joel Sandefur says emergency crews were called to the Anderson Municipal Airport about 8:30 a.m. Sunday after the plane crashed in the city about 25 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
Sandefur tells WISH-TV that the plane's male pilot was seriously injured in the crash and that he was the only person aboard the aircraft.
No additional details on the crash or the pilot were immediately available.
Madison County Sheriff Scott Mellinger says federal authorities were headed to the scene to begin their investigation of the crash.
