Softball: Bonaguidi's 1-hitter leads Antioch to win

Jeri Bonaguidi pitched a 1-hitter, striking out five, and Antioch shut out visiting Zion-Benton 8-0 in nonconference softball action Friday.

Faith Miller led the Sequoits' offensive attack, going 3-for-3 with a double. Antioch (19-2) gor 2-for-3 efforts from Ashlyn Sundell (2 RBI), Piper Foote (double, 2 RBI) and Abby Pyburn (double, 2 RBI). Gabby Debevec added a double.

Grayslake North 24, Round Lake 1: The visiting Knights roled in the Northern Lake County Conference makeup game, as Ashton Moore hit a grand slam and drove in 5 runs.

Grace Brown (3-for-4, RBI) and Nicole Hughes (2-for-3, 4 RBI) also homered for Grayslake North (16-9, 7-1). Faith Standerski (3-for-4, triple), Jess Pozezinski (2-for-3, double, 2 RBI), Evan Garrett (2-for-4, 2 RBI) and Alyssa Carr (2 RBI) had hits as well. Winning pitcher Emily Mack scattered 2 hits to go along with 6 strikeouts.

Emily Etherington and Michelle Lauritzen had hits for the Panthers, while Lilly Larson picked up a RBI on a 9-3 putout.

Lake Zurich 18, Stevenson 16: At The Ballpark in Rosemont, the Bears scored 7 runs in the bottom of the second inning to go up 7-1 and never trailed again in the North Suburban Conference game.

Elizabeth Chialdikas homered and drove in 2 runs for Lake Zurich (11-9, 5-3), which got 2 hits apiece from Megan Croke, Haley Gajewski and Stephanie Keefe (triple, 3 RBI). Maura Ginn had 2 RBI, and Kennedy Williams doubled.

Stevenson got 3 hits apiece from Hailey Barnes and Anna Fossier. Riley Housinger had 2 hits and 4 RBI, Maggie O'Brien contributed a pair of hits and an RBI, and Emily Freedman had 2 hits as well. Fossier and Barnes tripled.

Libertyville 5, Waukegan 0: Amanda Page pitched the shutout, as the Wildcats improved to 15-7 and 8-1 in the North Suburban Conference.

Maine West 6, Vernon Hills 3: Delaney Bowen hit a solo home run in the Cougars' Central Suburban League North Division loss.

Vernon Hills (10-11, 5-2) received 2-for-4 efforts from Bowen, Quin Yuter (double) and Brooke Pieper (RBI).
