Baseball: Davis pitches Antioch past Lakes
Caden Davis turned in a quality start, Logan Delgado homered and Antioch defeated visiting Lakes 10-4 in Northern Lake County Conference baseball action Friday.
Davis allowed 1 run in 6 innings, striking out four and walking two. Jack Gillespie was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Antioch (11-8, 6-4), which received 2-for-4 efforts from Delgado (2 RBI), Sean Weiser (RBI) and Vince Roszkowiak (RBI). Eric Hart added a double for the Sequoits.
Lakes (7-12, 4-4) got a solo homer from Logan Mueller and 2 hits apiece from Jason Volpe (RBI) and Ethan Clark.
Lakes visits Antioch again Saturday for a 10 a.m. first pitch.
Libertyville 7, St. Viator 4: Andrew Kim homered for the second game in a row, and the Wildcats captured the nonconference decision for their seventh win in eight games.
Kim finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Garrison Bennett and Sam Paden had doubles for Libertyville (14-10). Paden worked 6 innings, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) with 8 strikeouts and no walks.
Stevenson 13, Waukegan 1: Drew Ruchim was 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Patriots, who won the North Suburban Conference game in five innings.
Sean Kiah (2 RBI) and Josh Snider doubled for Stevenson (16-6, 8-2).
Maine West 5, Vernon Hills 3: Cougars senior Derek Jarrell made his return to the mound in the Central Suburban League North Division game after being sidelines for the past three weeks.
Jarrell allowed 4 runs over 5 innings. Brendan Holloway had 2 hits in the losing effort. Josh Liu and Jake Morris were both on base three times for the Cougars, who dropped to 4-5 in the CSL.
