Barbara Pierce Bush cancels Trine commencement address
ANGOLA, Ind. (AP) - Presidential daughter/granddaughter Barbara Pierce Bush has canceled her planned commencement address at northeastern Indiana's Trine University.
The university announced Friday that the granddaughter of George Herbert Walker Bush and the daughter of George W. Bush pulled out of the address planned for Saturday because of a family health emergency.
Bush is a humanitarian and the board chair of Global Health Corps, which she co-founded in 2009 to engage young people in solving the world's biggest health challenges.
The university says Republican Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch now will deliver the commencement address. Crouch serves as president of the Indiana Senate and oversees agriculture, tourism, community development and other programs for the state.
