Clergy, community members celebrate National Day of Prayer in Naperville

Clergy members led prayers aimed at the military, government, media, education, business, marriage, families, churches, health and America. The free event at the Naperville Municipal Center also included scripture readings, music and hymns.
The National Day of Prayer was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman in 1952. President Ronald Reagan later declared the first Thursday in May the designated day of observance.
Organizers say the Naperville event aimed to unite community members, celebrate their freedoms and seek guidance from God.
