Temple Chai presents Grammy winner in concert
The Temple Chai Baruch Family Concert Series presents multiple Grammy Award winner Howard Levy and Friends, featuring an ensemble of Chicago musical giants - guitarist Chris Siebold, bassist Joshua Ramos, pianist Gregory Shifrin and drummer Nadav Simon and host Cantor Scott Simon.
The concert will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Temple Chai, 1670 Checker Road, one block west of Arlington Heights Road, Long Grove.
Multiple Grammy Award winner and music icon Howard Levy routinely receives accolades from the world's top music critiques for his lyrical virtuosity, deep musicality and stylistic breadth.
A superb pianist, innovative composer, prolific recording artist, bandleader, producer and Chicagoan, he is regarded as the world's leading jazz-harmonica virtuoso.
Levy is perhaps best known for the four CDs recorded with Bela Fleck and The Flecktones, of which he is a founder and composer, and with whom he has won two Grammys, most recently in 2012 for Best Instrumental Composition for "Life in Eleven," which he wrote with Bela Fleck.
Levy's musical travels have taken him all over the geographical world and the musical map. Equally at home in jazz and classical, he has toured the world performing his orchestral compositions, rock, blues, folk, Latin and world music.
He has recorded and toured with the late Jerry Garcia and the Dead, Paul Simon, Dolly Parton, Paquito D'Rivera, Tom Paxton and Bobby McFerrin.
