Regional Office of Education Announces Changes

The North Cook Intermediate Service Center, which is the Regional Office of Education for public school districts in Northern Cook County, announces key changes in its leadership and location.

The North Cook Intermediate Service Center (North Cook ISC) is pleased to announce that Dr. Kevin Jauch will serve as its new Executive Director/Regional Superintendent of Education effective July 1, 2019. Dr. Jauch will be the fourth Executive Director of the Regional Office and will succeed Dr. Bruce Brown who is retiring at the end of the current school year and has served as Executive Director since 2013.

Dr. Jauch is currently Superintendent of Schools in Avoca School District 37 and has held that role for the past eight years. Previously, he served for a total of 11 years in two North Cook County area school districts as a building principal. Dr. Jauch brings outstanding leadership skills as well as building-level expertise and perspectives with him.

In addition, Dr. April Jordan will become the new Assistant Executive Director/Assistant Regional Superintendent for North Cook ISC on July 1st. She will succeed Dr. Diane Betts who is also retiring in June following six years of dedicated service.

Dr. Jordan is currently Director of Extended Programs and Staff Development in Barrington Unit School District 220. Her career as an educator includes Middle School Language Arts Teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, Principal in Mt. Prospect and Winnetka, and now as Director in Barrington. She received her doctorate in Curriculum and Social Inquiry at National Louis University, Chicago.

Office Moving

North Cook ISC will relocate its offices this summer. As of August 1st, their address will be 1001 E. Touhy Avenue, Suite 200, in Des Plaines. The new office will include conference spaces with fiber optic Internet/Wi-Fi capability in a completely remodeled building designed to specifications that will meet the needs of educators, administrators, students and staff. The one-floor building is conveniently located in the O'Hare corridor and accessible from Interstates I-90 and I-294 with ample parking.

The North Cook Young Adult Academy will relocate adjacent to North Cook ISC with state-of-the-art classrooms, meeting rooms, and facilities to educate the growing number of students in grades 6-12 that attend the school which is part of the Regional Safe Schools program.

North Cook ISC serves as the Regional Office of Education for 39 public school districts in Northern Cook County with more than 145,000 students housed in over 200 public school buildings within the area.

The Regional Office plays an important role as an advocate and intermediary in Springfield for the public schools of our region and supports educators and school districts in the areas of professional development, principal mentoring, licensure, facility safety and improvement, bus driver training, truancy and homelessness, and the Regional Safe Schools program.
