Learn how to make a book out of your genealogical research at May 7 meeting

On Tuesday, May 7, Kurt Pearson will introduce the process he has used for "Creating Books from Genealogical Research" at the next meeting of the Elgin Genealogical Society.

The program will be 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Meadows Community Room at Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in downtown Elgin. The meetings are open to the public.

Pearson has completed several family books from his own genealogical research. He will show a wide variety of illustrated examples, give tips on how anyone can take their findings they have collected, organize them, to make books that will become family treasures.

The Crystal Lake native graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School in 1976 and Knox College in 1980. After playing and coaching basketball for three years in Denmark, he taught high school English for 18 years before becoming library director at McHenry West Campus.

Now retired, he enjoys genealogy, writing, gardening and travel. He has been conducting genealogical research and creating family history books since 1996. His latest work is "Swedenberg," a two-volume set, with over 1,000 photos, on the Swedish community in Crystal Lake.
