Aurora man pitched gun from car during traffic stop, police say

An Aurora man who threw a gun out of his car window faces four felony gun charges, authorities said Tuesday.

Malachi Hurt, 27, of Aurora, was charged with unlawfully possessing a gun while being a street gang member and a felon, and by not having a FOID card. Hurt was also charged with being an armed habitual criminal, according to a news release issued by Aurora police Tuesday.

Hurt was driving on the southeast side of Aurora when he was pulled over by police. Officers recovered a loaded handgun near where Hurt had been pulled over and determined he had pitched it from the vehicle, according to the news release.

Hurt was already on parole for previous felony convictions. Hurt was denied bond and transported to the Kane County jail and will be provided a court date at a later time.
