Baseball: Clay tosses shutout for Lakes
Tim Clay pitched a complete-game shutout, and Lakes' baseball team edged visiting Round Lake 1-0 in Northern Lake County Conference action Thursday.
Logan Queen was 2-for-3 for Lakes. Clay allowed 1 hit with 6 strikeouts and 4 walks.
Charlie Burton had a single for Round Lake.
Carmel 7, Grant 3: Jake Adams was 2-for-5 with 2 doubles and an RBI, as the visiting Corsairs won the nonconference game.
Carmel also got doubles from Sean Lynch and Lukas Galdoni, while Michael Machamer went the distance on the mound, allowing 2 earned runs.
Danny Laughery and Joey Califf had doubles for Grant.
Buffalo Grove 4, Stevenson 3: Jake Surane was 3-for-4 with a stolen base for the Patriots in their nonconference loss.
Brandon Ward was 2-for-4 with an RBI and 2 stolen bases for Stevenson, and Eli Fishbein allowed 1 earned run in 4⅓ innings.
