Dr. Lowell S. Weil Jr. Named Scholl College 2019 Alumnus of the Year

The Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University bestowed its Honor Medallion and Alumnus of the Year awards upon Dr. Lowell S. Weil Jr. during the Scholl College Alumni Reunion, held April 12 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.

Scholl College each year recognizes alumni who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, distinguished themselves in podiatric medicine and dedicated themselves to advancing Scholl College and the profession.

A second generation podiatric physician, Dr. Weil is the CEO of the renowned Chicago-based Weil Foot & Ankle Institute, one of the largest research practices in the country. Highly regarded for his innovative surgical skills, he pioneered surgical techniques including the dorsal approach plantar plate repair. He founded the institute's fellowship program and served as its director from 2000-2017.

Dr. Weil is the founding partner of Foot and Ankle Business Innovations (FABI), a practice management training and mentorship service that helps physicians improve their patient care, the health of their practice and their quality of life. He is the author of more than 50 papers and text book chapters. A sought after speaker, he has lectured in 13 countries on five continents and in 28 different states. He previously served as the co-editor of Foot and Ankle Specialist, the world's only combined orthopedic and podiatric peer-reviewed journal.

A 1994 Scholl College graduate, Dr. Weil completed his residency training at the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia. He holds an MBA from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
