Baseball: Houtz hits grand slam as Warren wins 20th
Brandon Houtz hit a grand slam, Brian Rapanan went 3-for-4 with a double, and Warren's baseball team hit the 20-win mark by capturing a 10-6 decision over host Lake Forest on Wednesday.
The Blue Devils improved to 20-2 and 8-0 in the North Suburban Conference with their 17th win in a row.
Ryan Devries added a 2-for-3 performance with 3 RBI, and Ryan Scanlon improved to 4-0.
Wauconda 2, Grayslake Central 0: Marcus Keller pitched a 4-hit shutout for the Bulldogs in Northern Lake County Conference action.
Keller struck out seven and walked two. Anthony Bonk hit a solo homer for Wauconda and went 2-for-3. Tyler Heinz was 2-for-2.
For Grayslake Central (14-4, 6-2), Nic Presutti was 2-for-4 and Coby Moe had a double.
Grayslake North 6, Antioch 1: Freshman Grant Garrett went 4-for-4 and stole a base, Jason Donohue allowed 1 run over 5⅓ innings, and the Knights won the Northern Lake County Conference game.
Donohue helped himself offensively by going 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and 2 stolen bases. Matt Rennolds was 2-for-4 with 3 stolen bases, and Matt Heery went 2-for-4 as well.
Antioch's Vincent Roszkowiak was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Lakes 6, Round Lake 2: Chance Andell was 4-for-4 with 4 runs scored, 2 doubles and an RBI for the Eagles in the Northern Lake County Conference game.
Jason Vople went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI, and Julian Carrillo also doubled. Logan Hanson pitched 6 innings for the win, allowing 2 runs and 2 hits, while striking out six and walking four.
Round Lake pitcher Wyatt Hill struck out 10 and allowed 2 earned runs in 6 innings. He was also 1-for-3 and scored a run.
