Softball: Swiatkowski slugs another homer as Carmel cruises

Jordan Swiatkowski hit a solo home run, her eighth of the season, and Carmel Catholic's softball team defeated Wauconda 10-1 in a nonconference game Tuesday.

Kyla Rapplean was 3-for-3 with a double, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored for Carmel (7-5). Sydney Schuda went the distance in the circle, striking out nine and allowing 4 hits and 2 walks. Julia Shrofe was 1-for-2 with 2 RBI.

Mundelein 7, Lake Zurich 2: Kira Buckner struck out 14 batters and allowed 1 earned run and just 5 hits in a complete-game effort, as the Mustangs won in North Suburban Conference action.

Kellie Shanahan homered for Mundelein, Tess McKay doubled and knocked in 2 runs, and Elise Bernett went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Libertyville 16, Lake Forest 0: Katie Jahncke (2-1) pitched a four-inning no-hitter in the North Suburban Conference game, striking out eight and walking one.

Lexie Hill was 3-for-3 for Libertyville (11-4, 5-0), which got 2-for-3 efforts from Aliya Haddon (2 RBI), Sarah Bennett (double) and Emma Fields. Katie Jahncke was 2-for-2 with a double, Maggie Evers went 1-for-1 with a double and 4 RBI, and Katie Felsl finished 1-for-1.

Grayslake Central 11, Round Lake 0: Avery Nims pitched five-inning perfect game in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Rachel Smigielski homered and knocked in 2 runs for the Rams, who received 2 hits apiece from Bridget Marshall (double, 2 RBI), Ashlynn Coleman (double, triple, 3 RBI) and Ashley Reese (RBI).

Grayslake North 7, Grant 0: The visiting Knights won the Northern Lake County Conference matchup, as freshman Gianna Certa had a no-hitter through 5 innings and settled for a 1-hit shutout with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Ashton Moore (2-for-3, double), Faith Standerski (2-for-4, RBI), Nicole Hughes (2 RBI, 2 runs) and Alyssa Carr (RBI) all had hits for Grayslake North (11-7, 4-1). Meghan Delahunty (walk), Grace Brown (3 walks, 2 runs) and Scout Kram all scored runs for the Knights. Hughes picked up her 2 RBI on a 0-1 single after Grant intentionally walked Grace Brown to load the bases in the seventh.

Miranda Rodriguez had the lone hit for Grant. Calista Warmowski and Becca Fabry walked. Juliana Reynolds had a solid outing in the circle (7 innings, 3 earned runs, 8 strikeouts) for the Bulldogs.

Antioch 9, Lakes 3: Faith Miller (2 RBI) and Abby Pyburn (RBI) were both 3-for-4, as the Sequoits beat their district rival in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Antioch got 2 hits apiece from Ashlyn Sundell, Gabby Debevec (2 RBI), Avery Malicki (double, RBI) and Hailey Webb (double, RBI).

For Lakes, Haley Ovaska was 2-for-2 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI.
