Baseball: Warren's Jasnoch shuts down Lake Forest

Dru Jasnoch pitched a complete game, allowing just 4 hits, and Warren's baseball team defeated Warren 6-1 Tuesday for its 13th win in a row.

Warren improved to 16-2 and 5-0 in the North Suburban Conference.

The Blue Devils were led offensively by Mikey Kocen: (2-for-3, double, 3 RBI), Gabe Schmitt (2-for-3) and Brian Rapanan (2-for-2). Jasnoch improved to 4-1-1.

Mundelein 17, Zion-Benton 0: Jonathan Hanscom pitched a six-inning no-hitter in the North Suburban Conference game, striking out 11 and walking three.

Justin Binz and Mason Schultz doubled for Mundelein. The Mustangs received 2 RBI each from Christian Diaz, Andrew Schroeder, Austin Greco and Binz.

Vernon Hills 4, Maine East 2: Danny Wizceb pitched 6 innings of 5-hit ball, striking out eight and walking two, as the Cougars won in Central Suburban League action.

Alex Yu earned the save, throwing a scoreless seventh inning. Vernon Hills (8-6, 1-2) was led offensively by Brendan Holloway (2-for-4, run, RBI) and Michael Moore (2-for-3, RBI, stolen base).

Carmel 14, St. Patrick 2: Ben Wiegman was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Drew Wiegman had a triple and 3 RBI, and the Corsairs captured the East Suburban Catholic Conference game in five innings.

Carmel (8-1-1, 4-0) also got offensive contributions from Lukas Galdoni (2-for-3, double, RBI), Sean Lynch (2-for-4, RBI) and winning pitcher Dylan Paquette (double).

Grant 4, Antioch 3: Jimmy Taylor pitched 4⅓ scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts, and the Bulldogs improved to 13-3 and 7-0 in the Northern Lake County Conference.

Mikal Ashley earned his third save, allowing 1 hit and no runs in 1⅓ innings. Joey Califf was 1-for-3 and scored a run for Grant.

Libertyville 7, Waukegan 1: The Wildcats received 2 hits apiece from Andrew Kim, David Robertson, Tanner Kelly, Dylan Drumke and Derek Calamari in the North Suburban Conference game.

Ryan Klainos had 9 strikeouts in 6⅔ innings.
