How Palatine bike club is pushing pedal power

The Bike Palatine club wants more residents to pedal around the village, and to give that effort a boost it's dangling a nice opportunity to businesses in town.

The club, which leads casual rides and cycling events throughout the biking season, announced this week that it's taking nominations for businesses to be awarded a two-bicycle rack that will provide cyclists a place to securely leave their bikes when visiting.

Officials said customers may nominate a business for a rack, but must make sure it will be accepted. Businesses also can submit nominations.

Bike Palatine will donate the racks subject to qualifications and availability. Installation will be included.
