More secure entrances coming for five District 15 schools

Palatine Township Elementary District 15 board members have approved modifying five school entrances, creating more secure vestibules. All District 15 schools require visitors to be buzzed in from the outside before entering. However, at several buildings, the main office is not directly connected to the front vestibule, allowing visitors to gain access to the whole school once entering the main doors. This summer, the vestibules of Virginia Lake, Carl Sandburg, Plum Grove, Kimball Hill and Hunting Ridge elementary schools will be reconstructed to create more secure front entrances. Six other schools will receive the security upgrades in 2020. Once complete, all District 15 schools will have secure vestibules.
