Baseball: Priester fires 1-hitter at Crystal Lake South

Quinn Priester threw a 1-hitter to lead Cary-Grove to an 8-0 Fox Valley Conference win at Crystal Lake South Saturday.

Nick DiBenedetto broke up the no-hitter with a seventh-inning leadoff single.

Priester struck out 9 and walked a pair. He and Drew Stengren each doubled and drove in 2 runs for Cary-Grove (9-4, 3-2). Senior Joe Walsh took the loss for Crystal Lake South (8-4, 4-4).

West Aurora 6, West Chicago 5: Alec Losselyoung, Darrin Hartkopp and Danny Marion had 2 hits apiece as West Aurora (10-4, 6-2) won a fifth consecutive Upstate Eight game.

Huntley 5, McHenry 3: Winning pitcher Eli Paplanus held McHenry (9-5, 5-2 Fox Valley) scoreless on 2 hits, walked none and struck out two in 4⅓ innings. Jason Peters doubled, scored and drove in a run for Huntley (12-4, 6-2).
