Letter to the editor: Nothing fair about fair tax

Econ 101: You tax something, you get less of it. In the case of Pritzker's "Fair Tax," less tax revenue through avoidance or flight.

The "progressive" income tax isn't about fairness, equality or any other reason Pritzker wants to sell you. It's about continuing to prop up failing, unsustainable pension and state employee retirement benefit programs, two things taxpayers shouldn't be asked to support to begin with.

Further, these are programs that legislators in Springfield have proved time and again they cannot be entrusted to manage properly.

Tell your lawmakers you oppose amending our Constitution to change the flat income tax in Illinois, and please realize regardless of your current income level it will cost you more should a "progressive" tax be instituted. "Tax and spend" is Springfield's game, and they love playing it.
