Softball: Buckner strikes out 17 for Mundelein

Kira Buckner struck out 17 batters, Molly Podraza homered twice, and Mundelein's softball team defeated Zion-Benton 9-1 in North Suburban Conference action Monday.

Buckner allowed only 2 hits and 2 walks, and did not allow an earned run. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a homer and 2 RBI. Podraza finished 3-for-3, and Kendall Klatt also was 2-for-4 with a home run.

Libertyville 6, Waukegan 1: Amanda Page posted 11 strikeouts in a complete-game effort for the Wildcats in the North Suburban Conference game.

Page (5-3) gave up only 3 hits and 1 walk. Libertyville (6-4, 3-0) was led offensively by Maggie Evers (2-for-3, double), Aliya Haddon (2-for-3, double), Ella Zombolo (1-for-3) and Lexi Hill (1-for-3).
