Hunting Ridge 'Litter Patrol' Cleans Neighborhood

As part of a school assignment last year, Jonathan Stinson, a fifth-grade student at Hunting Ridge Elementary School, in Palatine, IL, wrote to the U.S. President about the importance of cleaning up litter from our environment. After writing the letter, he began to notice how much litter was in and around his neighborhood. Jonathan sprang into action and organized a neighborhood 'Litter Patrol' to help clean up his part of America.

Jonathan, with the help of his parents, created a flyer about the litter in the neighborhood. He encouraged Hunting Ridge neighbors to join him on Saturday, April 6th to pick up litter. Several Hunting Ridge Elementary students, along with their parents and neighbors, came out to clean the neighborhood and support the effort. Officer Hall from the Palatine Police Department joined the clean-up mission in support of the Litter Patrol and the Hunting Ridge Subdivision.

The Litter Patrol collected several bags of garbage from the neighborhood parkways and around the Hunting Ridge Elementary School. Jonathan plans to have 'Litter Patrol' events in the future.
