Local club to learn about life of farmers April 16

On Tuesday, April 16, the Hampshire-Henpeck Unit of Home and Community Education will have a special speaker Pat Dumoulin. Enjoy her presentation of "A Farmer Isn't Always Down On the Farm" at 12:30 p.m. at the Heartland Bank, Route 72 and Warner in Hampshire.

All are invited to attend this special presentation. Refreshments will be served by unit members Jan Ihssen and Barbara Janicak.

Plan to attend the Kane County Home and Community Education's annual meeting on Wednesday, May 15, at Carmina's, 1055 N. Randall Road, Elgin.

Registration will be at 11 a.m. and lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Reservations are due by Wednesday, May 1.

Cost is $20 for a lunch featuring filet mignon, baked chicken, mashed potatoes, California vegetables, salad and cake. This year's presentation will be "The Six Wives of Henry the Eighth."

Unit members would like to thank Cheri Aschenbrenner of the Elgin Police Department and Kevin Williams from Kane County Sheriff's Office for their informative presentation on "Personal Safety: Don't Become a Victim." They also would like to thank Claudia Lake for her excellent treats.

Visitors are always welcome to the meetings.
