Judson University to host ensemble performances in April
The Demoss Center for Worship and the Performing Arts at Judson University will host several free ensemble performances in the month of April. These will include performances from the jazz, guitar and percussion ensembles as well as the chamber singers and merit recitalists. All performances will be held at 7 p.m. in the Thulin Auditorium of Thompson Hall, 1151 N. State St. in Elgin. The performances are free, unless otherwise noted.
Students in the center have the opportunity to perform with their ensembles both on campus and in off-campus concerts. These concerts are an opportunity for students to showcase their talents in music, and also are a meaningful outreach to the surrounding community.
Concerts this spring will include:
On Tuesday, April 9, the Merit Recital for Voice and Instrumentalists will perform student selections. They also will be collecting a freewill offering for their initiative "Instruments for Jamaica," the center's effort to provide band instruments to Jamaican students in need.
On Friday, April 12, the Chamber Singers and Guitar Ensemble will perform a joint recital.
On Tuesday, April 16, the Jazz Café of the Jazz Ensemble will perform in Dark Room Studio B, in the lower part of Thompson Hall.
On Tuesday, April 23, the Percussion Ensemble will perform their spring concert.
All events are free and open to the public.
