Cut expenses before boosting taxes

After reading excerpts of Gov. Prtizker's budget message, I found some subjects missing, such as: What about the hundreds of school districts? Wouldn't consolidation aid in lower property taxes? And what about the nearly 700 government units?

Let's reduce expenses before a stupid bag tax, graduated income tax or taxing retirement income. We need to fix the pension mess. Let's amend the constitution and while we are at it, proceed on with the Fair Map Amendment. It is time for the legislators to ignore the special interests and get serious for the good of Illinois.

Good businessmen can't raise prices (taxes) before taking a good look at expenses.
