Baseball: Round Lake notches first win
Osvaldo Mercado and Charlie Burton each had 2 hits and 2 RBI, and Round Lake's baseball team scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning to beat host Westmont 5-4 on Friday.
It was the first win of the season for the Panthers (1-3), and it came against a Westmont team was that 6-2.
Mercado also picked up the win, allowing 1 earned run and striking out four in 2⅔ innings. Mercado finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Wyatt Hill, who gave up 2 earned runs in 4 innings, went 1-for-3 with a walk and 3 stolen bases.
Stevenson 8, Dyersburg 4: At Obion Central High School in Tennessee, Brandon Ward (4 RBI) and Josh Snider (2 RBI) were each 2-for-2 for the Patriots, who won in five innings.
Ward and Zach Taylor doubled.
Stevenson 7, Hueytown 5: At Thompson Field in Tennessee, the Patriots got 2-for-4 efforts with an RBI from Chris Farina, Ryan McElhinny and Michael D'Angelo.
Farina doubled twice, and D'Angelo had a double as well. Jake Surane and Isaiah Hart each contributed a single and an RBI.
Hersey 13, Lakes 0: In Tennessee, Ethan Mackey and Ethan Clark had the lone hits for the Eagles.
