Wyoming advances in WNIT
LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming freshman Karla Erjavec sank a free throw with 9 seconds left, lifting the Cowgirls over Pepperdine 61-60 Thursday night and into the quarterfinals of the WNIT.
It is the second time that Wyoming (25-8) has reached the quarterfinals of the WNIT, joining the 2007 squad that won the tournament that year.
In addition, the 25 team wins this season are tied with the 1978-79 team for the second most in a season in Cowgirl history, behind only that 2007 team's 27 wins.
Senior Bailee Cotton led the Cowgirls offensively with 15 points and defensively with three blocks and a steal against Pepperdine (22-12). Erjavec scored eight points.
