Maybe it's because they read

Just finished reading Walter Williams' exhortation about the college scandals. One of the points made in the article is his quoting of a recent study that show professors who register as Democrats outnumber their Republican counterparts by a ratio of 12:1. Registered Democrats outnumber by a ration of 33:1 in History Departments.

My surprise is that he made no further analysis of why this is so. Could it be that the more one reads and learns their history of us and the world, the more democratization kicks in? As a lover of history, it surprises me that the ratios are not more greatly skewed toward the Democrats.
