Baseball: Palatine surges past Crystal Lake Central in 7th
Palatine scored 4 runs in the seventh inning Wednesday to pull away from Crystal Lake Central and notch a 7-3 nonconference baseball win.

Josh Stitt was the winning pitcher and rolled up 5 strikeouts over six innings. He also had 3 hits at the plate including a double.
Tommy Philbin had 3 hits and drove in 2 runs while Shailan Rajpurkar had 2 hits for the Pirates (4-3). Luke Seiffert added 2 RBI.
Barrington 13, Anthony Wayne 5: Barrington exploded for 12 hits to get the win in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Clark Elliott led the way for the Broncos with a home run. He drove in 2 runs. Will Koehler had 3 hits and AJ Christoffer and Max Raynor each had 2 hits. Winning pitcher Nate Holler finished with 6 strikeouts over 5⅔ innings.
Willowbrook 11, Conant 1: Christian Seegers drove in Conant's only run in the nonconference game. The Cougars slipped to 0-4 for the season.
Leyden 14, Rolling Meadows 1: Leyden scored 11 runs in the third inning to pull away with a nonconference win. Alex Durate drove in 4 runs and Christian Tokarz (2B) drove in 3 runs for the Eagles (2-2), who took advantage of 9 walks. Jacob Vega picked up the win on the mound. Alex Hoffman had a double for Meadows (0-2), which had just 3 hits.
Hersey 12, Obion County (Tenn.) 1: Hersey racked up 10 hits in the win in Tennessee. Winning pitcher Jake Irwin, who went four innings, helped himself at the plate with 3 hits. Will Adamski (2B) added 2 hits and drove in 3 runs and AJ Ceffalio had 2 hits, including a triple, and an RBI. James Denten (2B) drove in 2 runs for the Huskies (3-0) while Trey Schmidt added a triple and an RBI.
Oswego 3, Elk Grove 2: Despite outhitting Oswego 9-5, Elk Grove (0-2) dropped the nonconference contest. Xander Rojahn led the Grens with 3 hits, including a double. Zach Schwartz added 2 hits.
