Baseball: Dorfman's doubles lead Mundelein past D-C

Jared Dorfman went 4-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Austin Greco homered, and Mundelein's baseball team defeated Dundee-Crown 13-3 at Rent One Park in downstate Marion on Wednesday.

The Mustangs also got a pair of hits each from Andrew Schroeder (2-for-5), TJ Yakimisky (2-for-2, 2 doubles, RBI) and Sam Eddy (2-for-3, 2 RBI). Drake Morton and Mason Schultz each had a single and 2 RBI, Christian Diaza doubled, and Justin Binz tripled.

Jonathan Hanscom earned the win, allowing 1 run in 3⅔ innings.

Warren 8, Cary-Grove 4: At Rent One Park in Marion as part of the Miners Classic, Casey Cobe went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI to lead the Blue Devils.

Warren (4-2) also got a double from Nate Rentas and a triple from Mikey Kocen. Brian Rapanan earned the win.

Stevenson 9, Crockett County (Tenn.) 8: In Tennessee, Ryan McElhinny and Michael D'Angelo both went 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored and an RBI for the Patriots.

Benjamin Ries was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI. McElhinny and Hayden Brotz doubled.

Vernon Hills 5, Westminster 4: JJ Czarnecki's 3-run double highlighted a 4-run bottom of the fourth for the Cougars.

Jordan Krasner was 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Cougars. Joey Wizceb allowed 1 hit and no runs in 3 innings, striking out four and not walking a batter. Sam Polisky threw 1 inning and earned the save.

Libertyville 7, Mead 1: In Arizona, Andrew Kim was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, and Derek Calamari pitched 6 strong innings for the Wildcats

Libertyville's other offensive contributors included Matt Robertson (2-for-4, 3 RBI), Brendan King (2-for-3) and Sam Paden (double).

Calamari allowed 3 hits and 1 run, striking out four and not walking a batter.

Crystal Lake South 3, Wauconda 2: At Rent One Park in downstate Marion, Joshua Kehl was 2-for-3 with a double for the Bulldogs.

Camden Janik went 2-for-4 for Wauconda. Jacob Jensen pitched well in suffering the defeat, allowing 3 runs in 5 innings.
