TV:

WGN Thursday; NBC Sports Chicago Saturday and Sunday

Radio:

WSCR 670-AM

Pitching matchups:

The Cubs' Jon Lester (18-6 in 2018) vs. Mike Minor (12-8 in 2018) Thursday at 3:05 p.m.; Yu Darvish (1-3) vs. Edinson Volquez (4-8) Saturday at 7:05 p.m.; Cole Hamels (9-12) vs. Lance Lynn (10-10) Sunday at 3:05 p.m.

At a glance:

This is the last season of Globe Life Park. The Rangers will move into a new, $1.1 billion retractable-dome stadium across the parking lot next year. Texas is in a rebuilding mode after going 67-95 last year. They have a new manager in Chris Woodward, formerly a coach on the Los Angeles Dodgers staff. Adrian Beltre has retired and is certainly on the way to the Hall of Fame. The Rangers say Joey Gallo will start in left field in the opener. He has battled a right-groin injury. This will be Minor's first opening-day start. The designated hitter will allow Cubs manager Joe Maddon to use both Kyle Schwarber and Ben Zobrist as starters this series. Both Darvish and Hamels will be starting against their former team.
