Nominations due for historic preservation awards

The City of Aurora's Preservation Commission is presenting its 2019 Historic Preservation Awards in May and has opened the nomination process for local property owners who have made significant structural improvements while maintaining the historic character of the building.

Eligible projects should have been completed between Jan. 1, 2018, and Dec. 31, 2018.

Properties should be at least 50 years old or designated as historic by the City of Aurora. Residents or builders are urged to submit their own work or other projects warranting consideration.

Nominations can be made online at www.aurora-il.org/678/Preservation-Awards by Friday, March 29.

Winners will be honored during National Historic Preservation Month at the Aurora City Council meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 28.
