Baseball: Barrington wins twice in South Carolina

Barrington's baseball team scored late then early in winning its two games Tuesday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

In its morning game, the Broncos scored six times in the final three innings to come away with a 7-3 win over Bloomington Central Catholic.

Nick Loutos led the way for Barrington with 3 hits and an RBI while Johnny Pecora had 2 hits and an RBI and Luke Kozlowski added a triple and an RBI.

Adrian Nery picked up the win on the mound, allowing 5 hits in 4 innings with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks.

The Broncos' bats then stayed alive in their afternoon game as they took a 4-1 lead after two innings and went on to a 9-3 win over St. John's Jesuit of Toledo, OH.

A.J. Christoffer (2 hits, RBI), Rayth Petersen (3 RBI), Clark Elliott (3B, 3 RBI) and Max Raynor (2 hits) led the offense, which also took advantage of 7 walks.

Patrick Hoelter was the winning pitcher as Barrington moved to 4-2 for the season.

Buffalo Grove 13, Waterford (WI) 4: Playing at Disney World in Orlando, FL., the Bison moved to 3-1 on the season as they took advantage of 9 walks. Alex Paul (3B, 2 RBI) and Riley Rundquist (HR, 3 RBI) led the offense. Nathan Cole was the winning pitcher, going 4⅓ innings and allowing 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks. Paul earned the save, allowing 3 hits with 4 strikeoujts and 2 walks.

St. Viator 9, Peoria (AZ) 6: Playing in Arizona, St. Viator (4-0) took advantage of 8 walks and got a home run and 3 RBI from Jack Mahoney to earn the win. Kevin Wilhite had a double and 2 RBI for the Lions and Dan Anderson added a double and an RBI. Dan Thompson went 3⅔ innings on the mound in the five-inning game to earn the win. He allowed 5 hits and 1 earned run while recording 3 strikeouts with 2 walks.

Deerfield 10, Prospect 0: Ed Brancato (2 hits, 2B) and Jacob Kiel (2B) led Prospect (0-3) in a nonconference loss.

Huntley 3, Palatine 0: Ryan Dysangco had the only hit for Palatine (3-3) in a nonconference defeat.

Bartlett 5, Schaumburg 0: Albert Kiszka's single was the only hit for Schaumburg (1-1) in this nonconference game.

Glenbard North 4, Rolling Meadows 2: Sean Nolan had 2 hits including a double for Meadows in its season opener.
