Woman found strangled to death in Waukegan motel
Waukegan police are investigating the slaying of a 46-year-old woman found strangled to death Saturday at a motel on the city's west side.
Police were called to the motel in the 3000 block of Belvidere Road at 11:25 a.m. Saturday, after employees discovered the woman while conducting their daily duties, authorities said.
Officers determined the woman had died suspiciously, and called in the criminal investigation division to investigate, police said.
On Monday, the Lake County Coroners Office identified the woman as Waukegan resident Danette Amos-Williams. Preliminary autopsy results indicate she died from strangulation. Toxicology results are pending, authorities said.
Waukegan police believe this was an isolated event and Amos-Williams knew her attacker. Investigators continue to follow up on numerous tips and leads, authorities said.
