Our children deserve better schools

As a mom, I want what's best for my children. I want them to excel in school and reach their full academic potential. I believe that is something every parent can agree on. As parents, we teach our children life lessons, responsibility, how to live with character and integrity, and so much more. We want them to be prepared for whatever life brings them. A major portion of our children's learning is also done at school.

For 175 days out of the year, our children sit in a classroom gaining knowledge to prepare them for the next grade in school, and eventually to prepare them for the rest of their lives. From kindergarten through high school, our children will spend approximately 2,100 days at school. These 2,100 days are some of the most instructive, intuitive, and important days of their childhood. I want my children to spend these days in the best possible environment, where they can learn in a classroom that prepares them for the world of today and tomorrow.

Two referendums on our ballots this election for Lake Villa District 41 will allow our district to fix our schools and help our children succeed. Not only does the referendum address urgent and necessary improvements that will keep our children safe while they are at school, but it also includes investments into 21st century learning. These investments will provide students with STEM labs, modernized libraries, enhanced classrooms, and more.

Investing in our schools is an investment in our children. Other school districts in Illinois and across the country have seen that investing in student environments, improving the condition of schools, and providing updated, 21st century educational opportunities increases student performance.

As a mother, I will be supporting both referendums because I want my children to learn, grow, and excel.
