Central Indiana woman dies after driving into path of train
NEW WHITELAND, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a suburban Indianapolis woman has died after driving her car into the path of a freight train.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says 20-year-old Shauna Brooklynn Synesael of Greenwood was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision about 11 p.m. Tuesday in New Whiteland, about 15 miles south of Indianapolis.
The office says Synesael's Nissan Versa crossed into the path of a CSX train with 83 cars and two engines. The train came to a stop about 1,500 feet past the railroad crossing.
The crossing is marked with stop signs.
