Report: Pilot didn't recall snow warning before runway slide

RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) - The pilot of a small plane that slid off a runway while landing at a municipal airport in eastern Indiana in February told investigators he didn't recall seeing a warning that the runway was snow-covered.

No one was injured Feb. 11 when the chartered plane traveling to Richmond Municipal Airport from Wisconsin slid, went across Indiana highway 227 and came to rest against a fence bordering a farm field.

The (Richmond) Palladium-Item reports a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board says the pilot told investigators he had checked notices about local conditions several times before the flight from Waukesha County Airport in Wisconsin.

The Indiana airport's manager has said a notice about snow on the runway had been filed with the Federal Aviation Administration about the runway conditions.
