Issue questions

Describe your vision for the primary role of a community college.

Community Colleges are 2 year college programs that work well with local High Schools to develop children and adults in our community. They are a place where everyone is welcome; students, staff and faculty are safe; and our community has the opportunity to learn at an affordable cost. My vision for Oakton is for it to continue being a student centered college known for its amazing academic programs, fantastic faculty and staff, and for their to be a focus on equity and diversity.

How well is your community college fulfilling that role? What changes, if any, need to be made?

Oakton is a wonderful school and I look forward to collaborating with the community, faculty, staff and students to continue its excellence. I am particularly interested in transportation and making it better for folks on the East end of the district.

Are you currently employed by or retired from a school district, if so, which one? Is any member of your direct family -- spouse, child or child-in-law -- employed by the school district where you are seeking a school board seat?

I am not. No they are not.

Is a tax rate increase needed and, if so, how do you justify it?

Community colleges provide many services to a diverse population. Is there a service your college should be providing that it is not, or reaching a segment of the population that it is not?

I support inclusion, diversity and equity. I am not aware of any particular issues or lacking services but I look forward to supporting our community and working through challenges and needs as they arise.
