Teachers have a 'Big Mac' of a time during McTeacher's Night

Teachers from St. Joseph School in Elgin volunteered behind the counter on Tuesday, March 5, at the Elgin McDonald's, 1480 Larkin Ave, where they served students and their families in a fundraising event.

Jill Smith, a teacher at St. Joseph School, tended the apple pie box during the night alongside Mary Ann Smith who sold the pies for donations.

Smith did an outstanding job multiplying sales when selling pies to customers throughout the night. The proceeds from the pie sales went directly to benefit the school.

Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher's Night sales were donated directly to the school as well.

David Bear, owner/operator of the Elgin McDonald's, and the Bear family were delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.

"McTeacher's Night is part of McDonald's larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community," Bear said.
