Swedish meatball dinner to benefit Swedish American Children's Choir

Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln St. in Batavia, will hold a 10th annual Swedish meatball dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9.

Proceeds will benefit the Swedish American Children's Choir which rehearses at the church.

The menu includes Swedish meatballs, potatoes, vegetables, lingonberries, Swedish rye bread, beverage and Swedish desserts. Carryouts are available. Choir members will serve diners.

Admission is $13 for adults, $6 for children ages 3 to 10. Reservations are required. Call (630) 414-9700.

Children, ages 4 to 17, comprise the choir, the largest choir of its kind in the Midwest.

The choir, now in its 20th season, has performed at numerous local venues and festivals as well as completed eight performance tours outside of Illinois.

Singers learn about the Scandinavian heritage through the arts and perform songs in English and Swedish as well as performing Scandinavian folk dances.
