March Artist of the Month on display at Batavia Public Library

The Batavia Public Library's artist for the month of March is Robert J. Krawczyk, a native of Chicago, now living in Batavia.

Krawczyk graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago, College of Architecture. In the 1970s, while working in the architectural office of Murphy/Jahn in Chicago he pioneered digital graphic applications.

Over the last 22 years, Krawczyk has been able to apply his education and work experience to his artwork. His research into digital methods in the disciplines of science, mathematics, architecture, art, and technology has been published and presented internationally in the form of prints, web pieces, sculptural, and architectural studies presented in a body of work spanning over one hundred exhibitions and thirty-seven conference papers. He was selected as one of the founding Associate Editors of the Journal of Mathematics and Art due to his digital artwork.

Krawczyk is a Professor in the College of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago focusing on digital craftsmanship. He has developed and taught a series of computer-aided design and digital design courses covering 2-D and 3-D CAD, image composition, animation, and form generation methods.

Locally, he is an artist member of Water Street Studios, St. Charles Art Council, and the Fine Line Art Center.

The artist's work will be on display until the end of March in the art gallery on the main level.

Batavia Public Library seeks local artists to display their work in the Art Gallery on a monthly basis.
