New Lake County sheriff deputy chief
The Lake County Sheriff's Office has promoted Robert Richards to deputy chief to oversee the Criminal Investigations Division, comprised of more than 40 employees, including detectives, the gang task force and warrants team. Richards began his career with the sheriff's office in 1998, and has worked in court security, highway patrol, and the criminal investigation division. He has also served as an evidence technician and was responsible for processing crime scenes searching for and collecting evidence. Since 2017, Richards has been a lieutenant and served as a Highway Patrol Shift Commander.
