Buffalo Grove honors journalist, teacher Stan Zoller
Buffalo Grove village trustees this week honored a familiar face at its recent meeting.
Stan Zoller, a blogger and ubiquitous presence at village board meetings, was commended for receiving the Journalism Education Association's lifetime achievement award.
A veteran reporter and longtime high school journalism teacher, Zoller was recognized for his contributions to scholastic journalism.
Zoller's nominator, Glenbrook South High School teacher and journalism adviser Brenda Field, said he created "opportunities for all students to find and use their voices."
His efforts include serving on the JEA's Outreach Academy initiative and coordinating seminars at conventions to advisers teaching in low-income, urban and rural schools.
