Police arrest Schalke fan after Man City supporter injured

BERLIN (AP) - German authorities say they have arrested a Schalke fan on suspicion of seriously injuring a Manchester City supporter during last week's Champions League match.

Gelsenkirchen prosecutors say police were able to identify the 30-year-old suspect, who they described as a member of Schalke-supporting "Hugos," a group that is considered "problematic" by authorities.

The suspect, whose name wasn't released, allegedly became involved in an altercation between two members of each team's supporters shortly before the end of Wednesday's match.

The 32-year-old Manchester City fan suffered serious head injuries. German news agency dpa reported that he remains in critical condition.
