Families welcome at Community Health & Resource Fair on April 6

The Community Health & Resource Fair, sponsored by Mayor Rodney Craig's Kids at Hope Coalition, will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at the Hanover Park Park District, 1919 Walnut Ave., Hanover Park.

The Health and Resource Fair is designed to promote and provide information regarding various opportunities and activities for youth and families in the village of Hanover Park. The Kids at Hope Coalition is seeking participation from local agencies, churches, schools, recreational, philanthropic and health care organizations dedicated to providing safe, fun activities for children and families in the community. The Health and Resource Fair will be free and open to the public. There will be games and activities for the kids, performances by local children, health screenings, giveaways and raffle prizes. Concessions will be available for a small fee.

Who are the "Kids at Hope" in our community? Every child who resides in the community is to be considered a "Kid at Hope" rather than a "kid at risk." The belief of the Hanover Park Coalition is that all children are capable of success without exceptions. The Coalition is united in bringing this message to the entire Hanover Park area; that all children can find some area of interest that will provide success and an avenue of involvement for them.

There are many ways to be successful in life. Many of them are outside of the academic area of school and career and include all of life's great offerings - what Kids at Hope calls the four destinations of life: Home and Family, Hobbies and Recreation, Community and Service, and Career and Education. The Hanover Park Coalition will be looking for organizations and businesses that provide opportunities in each of these areas to be represented at the fair. The goal is to provide information to children and their families about the opportunities that are here, already in place for them, in their very own community. The Hanover Park Coalition hopes it can add your organization or business to the list of participants.

This year, the Hanover Park Fire Department will combine its annual Health Fair with the Kids at Hope Resource Fair, making it one large event. Maintaining proper health and wellness is very important for a balanced and successful life, so a Health Fair is a welcome addition to this event. Any agencies that would like to provide health screenings or assessments are welcome to do so. Please indicate what type of screening you will do somewhere on your Registration Form.

If you are an organization that provides opportunities for children and families in Hanover Park, the Hanover Park Coalition would like you to participate in its Health and Resource Fair. There is no fee to participate, just come and bring information about what you offer to youth (raffles, interactive displays or activities are welcome).

To sign up to have a table at the Community Resource Fair, fill out a Registration Form and return it before March 1. For more information and a registration form, contact the Kids at Hope Coalition through Police Social Worker Tricia Rossi, at hanoverparkkidsathope@gmail.com or call (630) 823-5579.
