Death of woman in Wabash River consistent with drowning
CLINTON, Ind. (AP) - State police say an autopsy determined that the death of a woman whose body was found over the weekend in the Wabash River in western Indiana was consistent with drowning.
Police say Vermillion County's coroner earlier identified the body as that of 56-year-old Jeanne L. Stern of Clinton, Indiana. Circumstances of her death weren't immediately released.
The manner of Stern's death is pending the results of toxicology tests, but police said Monday there were no signs of foul play. An investigation is ongoing.
Her body was found Saturday evening along the Wabash River near Riverside Cemetery in Clinton, about 60 miles (96 kilometers) west of Indianapolis near the Indiana-Illinois state line.
