Scouting report: Blackhawks vs. Senators
Tonight's game: Blackhawks vs. Ottawa Senators, 7:30 p.m. at the United Center
TV: NBCSCH
Radio: WGN 720-AM
The skinny: Since beating Nashville to improve to 15-16-4, Ottawa has gone just 7-15-1 and has the fewest points in the NHL with 49. There are plenty of trade rumors swirling around the Senators, who might attempt to deal Matt Duchene (27G, 29A) and Wheaton's Ryan Dzingel (22, 21). Leading scorer Mark Stone (27, 32) is another possibility, although Elliotte Friedman reported that Ottawa and Stone's representation are trying to “find common ground to extend the player.” … For as poorly as the Senators have played over the past two months, they have won three of their last five games. Two of those victories came against first-place Winnipeg. Dzingel notched the game-winner at 3:44 of OT at Winnipeg on Saturday. Stone scored in regulation and there were some cheers for the Winnipeg native, who has been rumored to be on the Jets' radar. … If Patrick Kane registers an assist in the next two games, he will tie Adam Oates for the second-longest assist streak in league history at 18. Wayne Gretzky holds the record at 23.
