Cherry leads Lakes in upset over Grant
Brad Cherry scored 25 points, and Lakes' boys basketball team upset first-place Grant 55-53 in Northern Lake County Conference action on Friday night.
The Eagles improved to 8-17 and 6-6 in the NLCC.
Grant fell to 16-12 and 9-3 in the conference.
Grayslake Central 66, Antioch 55: Ethan Boelens scored a game-high 17 points, and the visiting Rams stayed hot in Northern Lake County Conference action.
Grant Hardy and Antonio Crews added 14 and 12 points, respectively, for Grayslake Central (14-12, 8-4), which won its sixth game in a row. Daniel Guckenberger contributed 9 points, and Christopher Thomas sank a pair of 3-pointers. Boelens, a junior guard, drained five 3-pointers.
Antioch (12-12, 4-8) was led by Dan Filippone's 14 points.
North Chicago 75, Grayslake North 62: Ryan Connolly scored 30 points and became the Knights' all-time leading scorer in their Northern Lake County Conference loss on the road.
Connolly, a junior, has scored 1,468 points in his three seasons on varsity. Tony Hines and Austin Martineau had 12 and 10 points, respectively, for Grayslake North (15-12, 8-5).
North Chicago improved to 12-18 and 7-5 in the NLCC.
Wauconda 75, Round Lake 64: Donovan Carter scored 30 points, as the visiting Bulldogs won in Northern Lake County Conference action.
Carter, who's had three 30-point efforts in his last four games, sank six 3-pointers. Nick Bulgarelli added 13 points, including two 3s, for Wauconda (14-13, 6-6). Connor Brannick had 6 points and 7 assists.
Round Lake (9-18, 0-12) was led by Hakim Williams' 32 points.
Carmel 77, Marist 67: Johnny Roeser poured in 24 points for the visiting Corsairs in the East Suburban Catholic Conference game.
Carmel (19-10, 5-2) also received 16 points from Damone Williams-Gray and 15 from Kimahri Wilson.
Marist fell to 2-6 in the ESCC.
Libertyville 55, Lake Forest 46: The visiting Wildcats improved to 13-13 and 5-7 in the North Suburban Conference.
Crawford Bolton had 17 points for Lake Forest (9-16, 5-8).
